For almost a decade, Victor Carter has worked with young people from many angles — as a student, activist, advocate, and educator — in New Orleans, Louisiana, and across the US to make the experience of education one that embodies student voice and vision. In the summer of 2007, he became one of the founding members of Kids Rethink New Orleans Schools, an organization that focuses on the inclusion of student expertise as it pertains to their schools, their communities, and the city overall. Over the course of eight years, Kids Rethink New Orleans Schools has tackled the system of education from a holistic perspective utilizing arts, digital media, and other organizing efforts to create, share, and implement radical changes and solutions to the problems we see today.
